About Dave

"Hey, my name is Dave Lankhorst, born in 2000 in a small town next to Rotterdam. I grew up in a family where everything is possible and normal, so my family didn't look weird when I told them I wanted to dance. After my first performance, I fell in love with everything that happened in and around the theater. Dancing was my number one hobby, but I wanted to grow, and right now I want to become the best all-around performer I can be. The Hobby has become a dream and a passion for me."

When Dave Lankhorst was 6 years old he started dancing at the Vlaardingse Ballet Akademie, here he could gradually get the best basic developments for dance. Soon, when he was 9 years old, the owner of the Ballet Akademie told him to audition at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and the dance academy of Codarts in Rotterdam because she saw something in him. Dave Lankhorst received the message that he had been accepted for the elementary school at Codarts, After completing his elementary school, he moved on to the preliminary course for the bachelor's program, the havo/vwo for music and dance, at Codarts where he received his diploma here in 2019. In the 9 years that Dave Lankhorst studied dance at Codarts he had the opportunity to work with different choreographers.

Throughout the years Dave has also done extracurricular projects. For example, from 2015 to 2018 he has been in 4 Christmas productions of The Dutch Don't Dance Devision directed by Thom Stuart and then Rinus Sprong. Participated in the EAF Scholieren Theater Festival, where he had won an award for best male play moment in 2018.

Dave Lankhorst decided to move to Zurich Switzerland in 2019 to pursue his passion. He was selected for Zurich University of the Arts in the Bachelor Contemporary dance program. In the 2 years he studied here, Dave had the opportunity to work with different choreographers and styles. This has allowed him to further expand his horizons. During his time in school, Dave has also participated in several indoor and outdoor projects. These included an Amnesty Switzerland project (https://www.instagram.com), RÄUME By DE NIZ ( https://www.youtube.com),  and many others.

In 2021 came the, so called, internship year. Dave Lankhorst had completed many auditions and had been offered several internship contracts. After some thinking, Dave decided to do his internship at the Scapino Ballet in Rotterdam, where he proudly danced for 2 years. He got the chance to dance in different productions, by different choreographers. For example, he went to Budapest, Hungary with the piece; 'Carried Alive' by Justin de Jager, and did 3 weeks of sold out performances at the Royal Theater Carre with the successful production 'Oscar' by Ed Wubbe.

Last year Dave Lankhorst started working as assistant/supervisor for the Opera 'Song of The Dark Forest' by Opera2Day, the Scapino Ballet & the DoelenEnsemble. During rehearsals and performances, he is supervisor for the children and volunteers who participate in the Opera.

Currently he is working for RIDCC. He is a volunteer coordinator during the upcoming event, and already busy with the planning.

Dave is proud of his career so far and looks forward to what the future holds.
